Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is telemedicine consultation?
A telemedicine consultation is a healthcare service that enables patients to consult with qualified and registered medical practitioners remotely. Consultations are conducted through secure digital channels such as video calls, voice calls, or encrypted messaging platforms, allowing patients to receive professional medical advice without the need to visit a physical healthcare facility.
Yes. TruMD uses secure, encrypted communication platforms and adheres to strict data protection and privacy regulations to ensure that all patient information remains confidential and protected at all times.

Virtual consultations can assist with a wide range of non-emergency medical concerns,
including but not limited to:

  • Cold and flu symptoms
    Allergies
  • Skin conditions
  • Minor injuries
  • Medication management
  • Mental health concerns
  • Follow-ups and chronic condition management

If a condition requires physical examination or specialised testing, the healthcare provider may recommend an in-person consultation.

To participate in a virtual consultation, you will need a device equipped with a camera and microphone, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer, along with a stable internet connection.
Many medical insurance providers and healthcare plans now include coverage for virtual consultations. However, coverage may vary depending on your specific medical aid provider and policy terms. Patients are advised to confirm benefits directly with their insurer.

Yes. Depending on the medical assessment and the nature of your condition, the healthcare practitioner may issue a prescription or medical certificate during the virtual consultation. However, certain medications or treatments may require an in-person examination or additional diagnostic testing before they can be prescribed.
